Vacuflo Hide-A-Hose Pros & Cons

Posted on | September 28, 2011 | No Comments

Using a Vacuflo central vacuum system with a hide-a-hose feature can be a huge convenience to a home or business owner when it comes to cleaning up, but it can also present its own unique difficulties that are worth consider. Many people have found hide-a-hose systems to be incredibly convenient when it comes to cleaning up a fairly large space–approximately 2,300 feet, to be exact–but that convenience does not stretch to everything involving the system, unfortunately.

First of all, the advantages. All central vacuum systems, Vacuflo or not, are superior quality vacuum machines that can clean a home or workspace better than almost any upright/portable vacuum cleaner could ever dream of. They are more powerful than the average portable vacuum, and significantly more convenient thanks to no longer needing to drag a vacuum or a large hose around with you.

On the other hand, hide-a-hose systems can be a royal pain to install. Not only do you have the general issues inherent with installing a new central vacuum system in an existing home, but even less contractors are familiar with setting up hide-a-hose systems than regular central vacuums. Installing such a system can easily become very expensive, sometimes even doubling the price of the vacuum in the first place. Secondly, hide-a-hose systems are proprietary, and they only use proprietary accessories. This means that you are more or less stuck with using accessories produced by the same company that made your vacuum system, rather than having third party options like you do with regular central vacuums. This is both a blessing and a curse, since brand name accessories are certain to be of good or decent quality, but also equally certain to be more expensive than a generic equivalent.

However, in the end most people find hide-a-hose systems to be extremely convenient and powerful machines that make cleaning the house or workplace much easier than before. The cost may be higher to install, but the utility that you get and the increased value of the property it is installed in often outweigh that initial concern.
